I grew up on a farm in Lamont County, Alberta. The best part of growing up on the farm was caring for the farm animals. Very much wanting a horse but not being able to have a one gave way to sketching this animal I so admired. But that was the extent for art in my early years.

After graduating high school, my first job was at a local newspaper. This began a career in graphic arts. I worked in print shops in Edmonton, designing for printed material, and learning desktop publishing and lithography. Looking for more creative outlets, I tried decorative painting; that led to painting my first landscape on a canvas. I was hooked! With the support of my partner, I enrolled in art school.

Soon after graduating from the Fine Art Program at Grant MacEwan, we moved to an acreage in Strathcona County where we still live. Moving back into the countryside, has given me inspiration for many paintings. The passion for painting just keeps growing.

I am a member of the Arts and Culture Council of Strathcona County, a member of the Elk Island Art Club, and a member of Gallery@501. I enjoy painting in public during community events which gives me opportunity to encourage others to pick up a paint brush so they too can discover the same joys I experience while painting.
